A GQ Corporate Trustee is a company formed by Govett Quilliam to act as a trustee for a trust. A corporate structure brings continuity, consistency and specialist oversight to trust management.

In some historic cases, an individual Partner at GQ may have been appointed trustee. These appointments are treated in the same way as our Corporate Trustee roles, with the same level of care, compliance and review. We now recommend a Corporate Trustee structure rather than having any individuals at GQ accept a trustee appointment.

Being a trustee comes with serious responsibilities, and the risks of getting it wrong can be high. Trustees who don’t meet their duties can be held personally liable, and the trust itself can be compromised. All Trusts with a GQ Corporate Trustee are part of our Trust Management Programme, which includes a mandatory annual review. Each year, we check property rates and insurance, review financial statements, confirm trustee records and ensure trustee meetings and resolutions are properly recorded. Where necessary, we also check health and safety requirements.
