Alice Tocher has been a Partner at Govett Quilliam since 2014 and co-leads the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Team alongside Cameron Hart. Alice brings a wealth of experience across corporate, commercial, property, and rural law. Her legal capability is trusted by a diverse client base, from national infrastructure and energy corporates to property developers, agribusinesses, and local entrepreneurs.
Alice’s rural law expertise is particularly extensive, shaped by years of working closely with farmers, rural landowners, and agribusiness operators. She regularly advises on farm sales and purchases, succession planning, land access and easement agreements, subdivisions, and commercial leasing. Her practical understanding of rural operations and land use issues allows her to deliver legal solutions that are both commercially sound and regionally attuned.
She has also provided specialist in-house legal support to several energy corporates, where her deep sector knowledge has helped navigate complex property rights, infrastructure development, and regulatory frameworks.
Outside of her legal practice, Alice is a passionate advocate for community sport in Taranaki. She serves as a board member for both the Taranaki Community Rugby Trust and the Taranaki Community Stadium Trust, and remains actively involved in her own and her children’s sporting pursuits.
