Ellie joined Govett Quilliam in June 2022 and became a Partner in April 2024. She works across the Family, Health, and Litigation Teams, with particular expertise in health law. Ellie has extensive experience in ACC processes, complaints and investigations, civil claims, professional disciplinary processes, and privacy matters. She has worked from almost all perspectives in this field, representing patients, practitioners, regulators, and insurers, which allows her to offer a holistic and practical approach to healthcare matters.
Ellie also has broad litigation experience, appearing in a variety of jurisdictions from Tribunal level to the Court of Appeal. In addition to her health law practice, she provides advice on relationship property matters within the Family Team.
Recognised in 2023 by NZ Lawyer as a Top Female Lawyer in New Zealand in the Elite Women category, Ellie’s passion for her health law goes beyond her working day. She is a Board Trustee for the Little Miracles Trust (formerly the Neonatal Trust) and serves on the Clinical Ethics Advisory Group at Taranaki Base Hospital. Ellie is also a member of the NZLS Health and Disability Law Reform Committee.
Ellie also hosts a quarterly medico-legal discussion group open to anyone interested in the intersection between health and the law.
