Beatrice Chamberlain

Beatrice (Bea) is a Senior Associate at GQ. She practices mainly in commercial contracts & transactions, energy, overseas investment, and property law.

Bea began her legal career at GQ as a graduate in 2017. Since then she has worked in both our corporate and commercial and personal planning teams (trusts and succession), which has allowed her to develop a breadth of experience to suit clients’ needs. She was also appointed interim manager of our Stratford office shortly after its amalgamation in 2022.

During her time at Govett Quilliam Bea has advised national and international energy corporates on oil and gas compliance, risk management, and contract negotiations, including a secondment as in-house counsel during an onshore drilling campaign.

Bea has also developed expertise advising on New Zealand’s overseas investment regime, guiding private and corporate clients through complex consent requirements and successfully managing high-value applications for business asset acquisitions.

Bea has called New Plymouth home since 2017 but still has family in Wellington and the Wairarapa who she visits often. In her spare time Bea prioritises spending quality time with her partner & young daughter, catching up with friends, getting outdoors & enjoying good food and drinks.
